Arne Slot accepts Liverpool can be 'drab' and 'boring' but defends intent
Goal reports Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has admitted he partly agrees with comments that his team are "drab" and "boring", as the Reds prepare for their showdown with Premier League leaders Arsenal on Thursday night.
The Reds travel to north London trailing the Gunners by 14 points and could see that deficit stretched to 17 with a loss. Slot acknowledged criticism of his side's style — saying "I find it really hard to hear but it’s not that I would completely disagree" — and argued he would use different words and take context into account. He added that possession does not automatically mean attacking football, that "we are struggling to create a lot of chances", and that the team must "find answers" against opponents who play in a less attractive but effective way.
Slot also insisted Liverpool can still "do special things" this season, saying the squad is talented though inconsistent and that recent transfer decisions are aligned with him, Richard and the ownership. He said the club is "in a very good place if everyone is available" and is working every day to improve — a situation that, the report noted, "could change with a huge performance and result against Arsenal."
