Arsenal did not produce a performance worthy of champions on a freezing night at Molineux. Tom Edozie’s debut goal punished the Premier League leaders’ ineptitude. Arsenal remain five points clear of Manchester City after playing a game more, but have won only twice in their past seven matches.

When Bukayo Saka headed Arsenal into a fifth-minute lead it looked like a procession, and Piero Hincapié added a second to calm the away end. A stunning Hugo Bueno strike reduced the deficit, however, and Edozie came off the bench late to make a name for himself in Wolverhampton and east Manchester.

Arsenal controlled possession early but their performance dipped as the weather worsened from rain to snow. Viktor Gyökeres was isolated, José Sá handled a Noni Madueke effort before Gabriel Martinelli threatened, and substitutes such as Tolu Arokodare and Adam Armstrong helped rouse the home crowd.
