Avengers: Doomsday teaser shows original X-Men in final stand
Movieweb reports Marvel Studios released the third teaser for Avengers: Doomsday online, giving a first look at the return of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and James Marsden as Charles Xavier, Erik Lehnsherr and Scott Summers.
The one-minute tease takes place in the ruins of the X‑Men mansion, opening on the wheel of Xavier’s chair and a chessboard with the king floating under Xavier’s control. Xavier and Magneto hold hands across the board and appear to contemplate death before smiling, then Cyclops removes his visor and screams as the world around him burns with energy and a giant Celestial figure walks behind him. The short follows earlier teasers that highlighted Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, and the report says other former franchise stars including Alan Cumming and Kelsey Grammer are said to be joining the trio, though their roles remain speculation and rumor.
According to the schedule, Marvel Studios will release the fourth and final teaser on January 8, with unconfirmed rumors it could feature Wakandans and the Fantastic Four. The piece notes suggestions that more short teasers could precede a full trailer at the Super Bowl in February; it also lists the film’s release date as December 18, 2026, with Anthony and Joe Russo credited as directors and writers including Stephen McFeely, Michael Waldron, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.
