Axel Disasi says he leaned on his family after being exiled to Chelsea's 'bomb squad' and has welcomed a loan move to West Ham United for the rest of the 2025-26 season. The transfer, completed at the end of the winter window, returned him to Premier League football after he was frozen out in west London.

Disasi joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in the summer of 2023 and made 44 appearances in all competitions during his first season under Mauricio Pochettino. Playing time fell significantly after Enzo Maresca replaced Pochettino; he featured just 17 times in the first half of 2024-25 and was loaned to Aston Villa before being sent to train with the 'bomb squad', alongside Raheem Sterling, away from the first team.

He was reintroduced to the senior setup by Liam Rosenior before leaving for West Ham on deadline day of the winter window. On West Ham's in-house podcast Disasi described the period at Chelsea as 'a little bit crazy' and said his background and family support helped him stay sharp and keep his head right.
