Bad Bunny Fans Prepare ‘Benito Bowl’

Jessica Santoni has barely watched an American football game but has spent the week preparing a big Super Bowl party. She’s hosting a “Bad Bunny Bowl” or “Benito Bowl,” prioritizing the Puerto Rican superstar’s halftime performance. “I keep forgetting that there’s a freaking football game,” she said.

Hosts have decorated with Puerto Rican flags, tropical plants and garlands, turned kitchen islands into turf-covered football fields and spread empanadas and tres leches cupcakes. Living rooms are plastered with a cartoon Sapo Concho, the mascot for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, and some considered cardboard cutouts of the artist.

“Bad Bunny is showing the world our culture, how beautiful and welcoming it is, and I feel like it’s just going to be really emotional,” said Ms. Santoni. Alyssa Gonzalez is hosting dozens of family and friends, serving beef sliders with plátano buns, tostones nachos, spicy guava-glazed wings, passion fruit and coconut mojitos — Bacardi only — and Medalla beer from local bodegas.
