Collider reports that Beast of War, a World War II–set underwater horror directed by Kiah Roache-Turner, will debut on the streaming service Shudder on January 16.

Set in Australia in 1942, the film follows a young troop of Australian soldiers whose boat is sunk while crossing the Timor Sea; the official synopsis says they must confront interpersonal conflicts, enemy attacks, and "the advances of one very large, very hungry great white shark." Beast of War is rated R, runs 87 minutes, and stars Joel Nankervis, Mark Coles Smith, Sam Delich, Lee Tiger Halley, Sam Parsonson, Maximillian Johnson, Tristan McKinnon and Aswan Reid.

The report notes the film was released in theaters and on VOD on October 10 to much critical acclaim and also lists a release date of August 22, 2025; on streaming it arrives on Shudder January 16. Shudder's January slate mentioned alongside Beast of War includes 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later on New Year's Day, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on January 9, In the Mouth of Madness on January 10, Founders Day and The Severed Sun on January 12, and Mother of Flies on January 23.
