Goal reports Ben Chilwell has sent an emotional farewell to Liam Rosenior as his ex-Strasbourg boss prepares to take charge at Chilwell's former club Chelsea.

Rosenior has been named as the Blues' new head coach following Enzo Maresca's acrimonious exit, and Chilwell posted on his Instagram story a picture of the pair with a blue 'love heart' emoji alongside the message: "Loved working with you the last six months, off to an amazing club and I am wishing you all the best gaffer."

Chilwell worked under Rosenior at Strasbourg after being frozen out by Maresca at Stamford Bridge; he left Chelsea permanently in the summer and signed for Crystal Palace for the second half of 2024-25. Speaking to the BBC in November, Chilwell said Rosenior was "going straight to the top" and credited a 10-minute call with the manager for his decision to join the French side: "It wasn't my top choice, but then I spoke to the manager. It was only a 10-minute call, and I rang my agent straight away after and said, 'Yes, let's get Strasbourg done.'"

Chilwell remains fondly regarded by Chelsea supporters after signing for the club in summer 2020, winning the Champions League in his debut campaign and playing under Thomas Tuchel as a flying wing-back, despite later training away from the main group under Maresca.
