Benfica produced a dramatic 4-2 victory over Real Madrid at Estadio da Luz on Wednesday, capped by goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin's stoppage-time header, and the result means Alvaro Arbeloa's side will now face a play-off to reach the Champions League last-16, according to GOAL. The contest saw Kylian Mbappe put Madrid ahead with a header from his first meaningful touch, but Benfica responded.

Andreas Schjelderup levelled after 36 minutes with a header from a counter and Vangelis Pavlidis converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time after Aurelien Tchouameni shoved his man inside the box, GOAL reported. Early in the second half Schjelderup struck again to make it 3-1, before Mbappe pulled one back from an Arda Guler cross to make it 3-2.

The match turned further in stoppage time when Raul Asencio and Rodrygo were both sent off, and Trubin then nodded home from a free-kick to seal the win for Benfica, according to GOAL. GOAL's player ratings highlighted Madrid's struggles: Mbappe was the side's top performer with an 8/10, while Thibaut Courtois was graded 5/10 and both Raul Asencio and Rodrygo received 4/10 for their displays and the latter's dismissal.

Manager Alvaro Arbeloa was given a 4/10 as GOAL judged the selection and performance to have been frail.
