Besiege has been knocking around for a while. It arrived on Steam Early Access a couple of years after the programme began, spent five years there before reaching 1.0 in 2020, and continued to receive updates from developer Spiderling Studios, including an ocean expansion in 2024.

Now the game is taking a bolder turn: a new expansion called Besiege: The Broken Beyond will send its physics-based building gameplay into space. Expect scuffles with alien spaceships, the ability to blow up planets, and puzzles built around strange gravity fields.

The expansion’s teaser suggests players will need to adapt familiar construction skills to entirely new environments. “There’s a good saturation of great space games on the market, but we wanted to create something different,” says Daniel Schmidt, project lead on the expansion.
