The main cast begins with one vocation each, but characters can change vocations after progressing the main quest to Alltrades Abbey in the past; talking to High Priestess Jacqueline unlocks the function and she provides the Career Sphere so vocations can be changed from anywhere.
Right away you have access to 10 basic vocations, while intermediate and advanced vocations unlock by mastering certain combinations of lower-tier ones. Mastering a vocation requires earning vocation points in battle. After the "An Encounter with Aishe" main quest, the Moonlight system is unlocked, allowing characters to use two vocations and speeding up the mastery process.
