The Burning Springs update added a chunk of Ohio to the Appalachia map, but Bethesda plans to spend 2026 improving the rest of Fallout 76. Creative director Jon Rush said the team has "been growing the play space with Skyline Valley [and] Burning Springs," and that the next year’s plans are focused on looking inward and "making the entire experience much more rich." Production director Bill LaCoste singled out older public events as a major area of attention.

"We have events that have not been updated since launch, and they're outdated or didn't provide the rewards that players really wanted, or [players] had all the rewards, so there's no real reason to go to them," he said, adding the team has made a "really big update to a lot of those" to revitalize them and improve minute-to-minute play.

Many long-running events have lost their appeal. The Mothman Equinox, for example, has run eight times since 2021 but this year offered the same rewards as last time, making it less compelling for returning players.
