Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 brings back Safeguard, the escort-robot mode first introduced in Black Ops 3. Two teams take turns escorting a robot across the map, a setup that funnels players into constant, focused conflict. Safeguard feels particularly at home in Black Ops 7.

Faster movement options get players back into the fight quickly, while gadgets such as Needle Drones and Point Turrets can dislodge campers and stop one side from locking down the objective. The game's refined gunplay makes battling over the bot feel better than it has in years—the mode hasn't appeared since Black Ops 4, roughly eight years ago (not counting COD Mobile).

Season 2's map additions help, too. The returning Slums map from Black Ops 2 suits Safeguard, and Yemen—reimagined as Cliff Town—is slated to arrive mid-season. Those classic layouts, paired with BO7's map flow and predictable spawns, keep the action moving and make objective play rewarding.
