Blind date: Ursula and Culann met at Oui Madame, London N1
Ursula and Culann met on a Guardian blind date and ate at Oui Madame in London N1. The pair went on for drinks at a nearby pub after their meal. Ursula said Culann gave a warm, friendly first impression and sported an “excellent sweater vest.” They talked about the Bridget Jones films (1–4), the trials of being 13, books she buys her stepdad, bands such as Pulp and Scissor Sisters, the origins of Garibaldi biscuits in Bermondsey, and whether a toastie can be a pie.
She said she tried to speak with her mouth full at times, they shared everything and ordered a lot on the paper’s tab, and she rated the date 10 out of 10. Ursula said they kissed and that they are planning to meet again. Culann described Ursula as very attractive and punctual. Their conversation covered childhoods (including how old they were when their parents split), working with politicians, festivals and gigs, and not being good swimmers.
He said they forgot to take a selfie and asked a waiter to photograph them as they left, praised her sense of humour and love of south London, and called her “gorgeous, funny and chatty.” Culann gave the night a coy 9 out of 10 and said numbers have been exchanged and dates suggested.
Both said they enjoyed each other’s company. Ursula called Culann “an absolute delight” and noted he indulged her tangents; Culann said he would happily introduce her to his friends. They shared food at the table and had a couple of drinks at a pub around the corner.
