Overwatch players have had a week to get used to new hero Jetpack Cat, but questions linger about the flying feline’s origins. The official line says support hero Brigitte found her as a stray and fitted her with a custom jet-propulsion rig.

Blizzard followed up with a lore video that sticks to that story, showing Brigitte wrestling with the practicalities of strapping a jetpack to a domestic cat. At one point she even wonders how to make a joystick that doesn’t require opposable thumbs.

That explanation hasn’t satisfied many fans. Reddit threads float theories that Jetpack Cat is a villain or spy, possibly tied to the Lunar Colony, and commenters point to a Moira interaction that hints at unusual intelligence. One user even compared the cat’s ultimate to Doomfist’s Meteor Strike.

Community skepticism remains high, with many players unconvinced a regular cat could coordinate and operate machinery that way. The conversation shows little sign of dying down as people await further clues.
