Box performers refuse to go onstage after Tate brothers attend
Performers at the Box in the Lower East Side refused to go onstage on Friday night after accused rapist and human trafficker Andrew Tate attended a Fashion Week party at the club with his brother Tristan. The event was hosted by promoters Matteo Garzia and Alessandro Brioschi.
Staff and performers, who stage the club's sexually charged burlesque shows — known for simulated stunts involving (we dearly hope) fake pee and poop — said they were shocked that the venue's famously strict velvet rope allowed the pair in. The night's second big show did not take place once Tate's presence became known.
Both brothers have been accused of rape and human trafficking; they deny the allegations. They face criminal charges in the UK and were accused of trafficking more than 30 women into a porn operation in Romania. U.S. probes by Homeland Security and federal prosecutors began in 2023, and Florida opened a criminal investigation last year, though no U.S.
