Cbssports reports Brian Flores has agreed to a new contract with the Minnesota Vikings after interviewing for multiple NFL head-coaching jobs; his previous deal was expiring after three seasons as the team's defensive coordinator.

Flores recently interviewed with the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, and the new deal specifies that if he is not hired to lead one of those teams he will return to the Vikings. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell praised Flores's work, saying, "Brian has a unique ability to connect with players, understand their skill sets, and put them in positions to maximize their impact on the field," and added that the defense's identity "is a reflection of his leadership and preparation."

Flores, 44, spent 15 seasons on Bill Belichick's Patriots staff, won four Super Bowls and was credited with helping hold the Rams to three points in Super Bowl LIII. He was hired as Miami's head coach ahead of the 2019 season, was fired after two years despite back-to-back winning seasons and later sued the NFL and several teams alleging racial discrimination before joining Minnesota's staff ahead of the 2023 season. In 2024 his defense ranked fifth in the NFL in points allowed as the Vikings went 14-3 in the regular season, and the team allowed the seventh-fewest points in 2025; whether he lands a head job in Baltimore or Pittsburgh will determine whether he stays in Minnesota under the new deal.
