Broncos score 10 points in final 30 seconds of first half, first since 1993
Cbssports reports the Denver Broncos scored 10 points in the final 30 seconds of the first half of their divisional playoff game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, the first time a team had done so in the NFL playoffs since the 1993 season. The sequence began when Bo Nix hit Lil'Jordan Humphrey for a 29-yard touchdown with 22 seconds remaining, giving Denver a 17-10 lead.
After the kickoff the Bills took over at their own 30 with 16 seconds left; on a first-and-10 Josh Allen scrambled, fumbled after a hit by Nik Bonitto, and the Broncos recovered with two seconds on the clock. Wil Lutz then converted a 50-yard field goal, turning a 10-10 tie into a 20-10 lead in a span of 22 seconds.
There has only been one other instance in the Super Bowl era of a team scoring 10 points in the final 30 seconds of the first half: a January 1994 divisional playoff game between the Cowboys and Packers, when Dallas hit a 41-yard field goal with 28 seconds left, the Packers fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and Troy Aikman threw a 6-yard touchdown to Jay Novacek, giving Dallas a 17-3 halftime lead in a game the Cowboys won 27-17.
