Bruce Straley says Wind Waker inspired Coven of the Chicken Foot's art style
According to Gamesradar, former Naughty Dog director Bruce Straley says The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was the main inspiration for the art style of his upcoming indie adventure, Coven of the Chicken Foot.
Coven of the Chicken Foot is billed as an "emotionally-rich, stylized, single-player adventure" in which players explore and solve environmental puzzles in a semi-open world as an aging witch fulfilling an oath to an ancient coven. The article notes Wind Waker's cel-shaded visuals have a sense of timelessness Straley hopes to replicate after years working on more photorealistic titles such as Uncharted (2007), Uncharted 2, The Last of Us and Uncharted 4.
Straley said, "We're playing with the tropes of the adventure genre and the traditional 'hero's journey', flipping them on their head through a new perspective." He said he wants to deliver a "unique type of storytelling"; the project has been described as a "lush love letter to ICO and Shadow of the Colossus." There is no release date yet, but the outlet said the game is considered one of the big games of 2026 on its radar.
