ZDNET compares CachyOS and EndeavorOS, two Arch-based Linux distributions that aim to make Arch Linux easier to use; both are available to download and install for free. CachyOS is the newer project and emphasizes speed. ZDNET reports it as "lightning fast," using Btrfs by default with an installer option for XFS, offering many desktop environments (KDE Plasma, GNOME, XFCE, i3 and more), and a custom linux-cachyos kernel that uses the BORE scheduler.

The distro ships performance-focused builds (packages compiled with -O3 and x86-64-v3/v4, LTO and PGO), a Calamares-based GUI installer, a welcome app, built-in Btrfs/Snapper rollbacks, precompiled Nvidia and ZFS modules, optimization for gaming, a fast GUI app store, and a rolling-release model.

EndeavorOS prioritizes a clean, attractive desktop experience and defaults to KDE Plasma while offering other desktops (GNOME, Xfce, Cinnamon, MATE, Budgie, LXQt, LXDE). ZDNET notes EndeavorOS automatically detects NVIDIA GPUs during installation and installs the proper driver. It provides a Calamares installer, a bare-bones default install, tools like the welcome app and yay, AUR support, a welcoming community forum and subreddit, FirewallD enabled by default, recent kernel and Mesa updates with improved NVIDIA support, and optional window managers (Sway, Qtile, BSPWM, Openbox, Worm).

EndeavorOS does not include a GUI app store by default; ZDNET shows you can add Octopi with the command: yay -S octopi.
