A review in Nytimes says the Spanish actor Carmen Maura shines as María Ángeles, a widow in Morocco whose daughter Clara (Marta Etura) arrives from Madrid to sell her apartment and its contents, offering her the choice of moving to Spain or to a seniors' residence in Tangiers.

Maryam Touzani directed and co-wrote the film with her husband Nabil Ayouch, and the review notes that the movie resists the expected trope of a resistant elder softened by a quirky collection of fellow residents. Instead, María Ángeles haggles with Abslam (Ahmed Boulane), refurnishes her home with neighbors pitching in, and confides in her childhood friend Josefa (María Alfonsa Rosso), a nun, about even a budding romance.

The review concludes that when Clara arrived María Ángeles might already have been living her best life, and she becomes intent on living an even better one. Calle Málaga is not rated, runs 1 hour 56 minutes, and is in Spanish and Arabic with subtitles.
