Carragher questions Rosenior's Stamford Bridge 'act' as Rooney defends
The arrival of Liam Rosenior at Stamford Bridge has prompted debate over whether the former Hull City boss has the gravitas to survive Chelsea’s pressure cooker. Rosenior, who managed Hull before taking charge at Strasbourg and was then drafted in to replace Enzo Maresca at the helm of the Blues at the start of the year, is off to a solid start, having won eight and drawn one of his 11 matches in charge.
Jamie Carragher drew parallels with Graham Potter, saying: “There is something about Liam Rosenior when you see him in the press conferences – I don’t know if it’s a bit of an act. There is no doubt Graham Potter is a good coach, we saw that at Brighton & Hove Albion, and he got the job, but he never felt like the right fit at Chelsea.
It didn’t feel like he had the personality or the strength to manage a club like that and I am wondering if it would sort of be the same. It just doesn’t look right.” Wayne Rooney offered a contrasting view, backing Rosenior from their time together at Derby County.
