Goal reports Manchester United are set to confirm a revamped coaching team to support new interim head coach Michael Carrick, with Jonathan Woodgate and Steve Holland joining the staff at Old Trafford. Carrick agreed a deal to become United’s interim head coach on Monday night, with an official announcement scheduled for Tuesday once the paperwork is finalised; he pulled ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the interview process.

Holland is set to be installed as Carrick’s number two — the 55-year-old served as Gareth Southgate’s assistant during England’s runs to the Euro 2020 and 2024 finals and the 2018 World Cup semi-final, and most recently managed Yokohama F Marinos after a trophy-laden spell at Chelsea.

Joining him is Jonathan Woodgate, whose playing career took him from Leeds to Real Madrid; Woodgate previously worked under Carrick at Middlesbrough, managed Bournemouth in 2021 and shares a Leeds connection with technical director Jason Wilcox. The reshuffle also sees the return of Jonny Evans to the coaching setup and an internal promotion for Travis Binnion.
