Catherine O'Hara looked 'gaunt' at last public event 3 months before death
Page Six reported that Catherine O’Hara appeared noticeably frail in her final public appearance three months before she died at 71. The actress attended the 2025 Angel Awards at the Proper Hotel Santa Monica in Los Angeles last October. A guest at the ceremony told the Daily Mail that O’Hara “looked very slender” and that “her face was almost gaunt, but she still looked very pretty.” The outlet said she wore a green pinstriped pantsuit with a black button-up and posed on the red carpet with her husband, Bo Welch.
Page Six said the source added O’Hara seemed “in great spirits” and “very friendly and upbeat.” The awards honored chefs who help people facing critical and life-threatening illnesses, according to Project Angel Food’s website. A representative for O’Hara was not immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Page Six reported the actress died following a brief illness at her Los Angeles home. Her agency told Page Six that paramedics responded after a call about breathing difficulty; the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived around 4:48 a.m. and she was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Her cause of death has not been revealed. The story notes O’Hara had a history of dextrocardia with situs inversus, per the Cleveland Clinic. She had been set to film Season 2 of The Studio but pulled out days before she died.
