Channel 4 follows Bedfordshire probe after 2020 EncroChat break
Channel 4’s 24 Hours in Police Custody has exclusive access to Bedfordshire police’s covert investigation into the EncroChat phone network, beginning at a house in Luton where a hooded figure pulls a shotgun from a rucksack and fires it.
In 2020 authorities cracked EncroChat, a phone network used globally by criminals. The fly-on-the-wall true-crime episode shows the team hacking messages sent in advance of the shooting, which leads to a hunt for the people involved.
The programme follows the covert operation as detectives pursue leads derived from the hacked messages; the episode airs at 9pm on Channel 4 and offers a detailed look at the Bedfordshire inquiry as presented in the series.
