Season 11 of Chicago Med turns up the heat as the romance between Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos) and Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) reaches a fever pitch in the episode "Our So-Called Lives," with Ripley even letting out a playful "ruff" as he courts Lenox. At the top of "Our So-Called Lives," it seemed like business as usual in the Gaffney E.D.

as Ripley and Lenox bickered over the best steps in treating a patient. After a frustrated Ripley requested to speak with Lenox privately, viewers cut to the hospital parking lot, where Lenox and Ripley wrapped up their heated exchange with a quick hookup in Ripley's car. Lenox remains committed to keeping her walls up after receiving a terminal diagnosis that's turned her entire life upside down.

"The writers in the writers' room and I got very excited about the possibilities of how [Ripley and Lenox] would get along," showrunner Allen MacDonald told NBC Insider. "And how they would work together, and how they would kind of push each other to be better doctors." During the parking lot rendezvous Ripley pulled away with concern, saying, "I thought we agreed to stop this." Lenox replied, "I changed my mind," and Ripley let out a playful "ruff." Ripley later admitted he was late to meet his longtime friend Lynne (Hope Lauren) because of the encounter with Lenox.

He and Lynne had planned to memorialize his late friend Sully by breaking into Wrigley Field to spread Sully's ashes.
