Christ Makosso set to join Oxford; Derby thrash Bristol City 5-0
Congolese defender Christ Makosso is set to leave Luton for Oxford after a deal was agreed, with a medical due to take place today, while Derby hit Bristol City 5-0 at Ashton Gate to move into the Championship playoff places. Will Unwin reports that Makosso, 21, has made 15 appearances for Luton this season and is poised to swap Kenilworth Road for the Kassam Stadium; a medical is due today as the next step in the move.
PA Media reports that Derby opened the scoring through Rhian Brewster and added early strikes from Ben Brereton Diaz and Bobby Clark in the first half before Patrick Agyemang and Lars-Jørgen Salvesen completed the 5-0 win. The victory was Derby’s third win in four games and saw manager John Eustace substitute all four of his goalscorers late on; new signing Jaydon Banel made his debut and Andreas Weimann was among the substitutes.
The matchday build-up notes there are no early Premier League kick-offs today, giving Fantasy Premier League managers until the 1.30pm GMT deadline to finalise teams, and highlights fixtures across divisions including Liverpool v Newcastle (8pm GMT). The round-up also flags recent results elsewhere: Cologne beat Wolfsburg 1-0 thanks to a first-half Linton Maina goal, and Espanyol lost 2-1 at home to Alavés, extending their winless run.
What is known: a deal for Makosso has been agreed and a medical is scheduled; Derby’s 5-0 win and the scorers are confirmed.
