Movieweb reports that, according to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Christina Hodson is working on the script for the DCU's Batman film The Brave and the Bold. DC Studios and Warner Bros. have made no comment.

Hodson previously wrote DCEU films The Flash and Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and was part of the writers' room James Gunn assembled for the DCU in January 2023. The project will reunite her with director Andy Muschietti, and Hodson reportedly earned praise within the studio for an unmade Batman Beyond script.

Warner Bros. is reportedly taking a measured approach to development, so no definitive draft is expected anytime soon. Gunn said in February 2025 that Brave and the Bold had a writer but did not name them "as it puts too much pressure on the guy," and The Hollywood Reporter said Hodson has been working on the film since fall 2025, a timeline the outlet suggested could indicate the original writer left or the project was being retooled.

Gunn has confirmed he is not casting Batman for Man of Tomorrow, and has said Brave and the Bold will not arrive before 2028 at the earliest to avoid competing with Matt Reeves' The Batman - Part II, which is scheduled for October 1, 2027; Gunn and Peter Safran intend to keep Reeves' Batman separate from the DCU.
