Sandfall Interactive, developer of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has been awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by France's Ministry of Culture. The decoration recognises people who have distinguished themselves through their creations in the artistic or literary field or through contributions to the influence of Arts and Letters in France and throughout the world.

On LinkedIn the studio celebrated "From Expeditioners to Knights!", saying members were received at the Ministry, thanking their team and the millions of players who brought the game to life, and expressing hope their journey will inspire others to create. The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres was created in 1957 as a decoration "tailored to the world of arts and literature," though the Ministry traces its history back to earlier honours such as the Order of Saint Michael.
