Coco Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at Super Bowl LX on February 8, performing just before kickoff at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET. Her appearance is listed among Super Bowl festivities that also feature Green Day, Brandi Carlile and Charlie Puth. Often regarded as a Black national anthem, the song was written in 1900 as a hymn by NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson and became widely used during the Civil Rights Movement.

Its lyrics include: "Lift every voice and sing, Till earth and heaven ring. Ring with the harmonies of Liberty..." After the announcement, the 28-year-old called the selection "just surreal," saying she felt honored to represent culture in a worldwide moment and that she was "super grateful about that." Born in 1998 in Columbia, South Carolina, Jones first rose to attention with the 2012 Disney film Let It Shine and the single "Holla at the DJ." She later starred as Hilary Banks on the series Bel-Air and served as John Legend’s Battle Advisor on Season 27 of The Voice.
