Code Vein II: 10 essential tips — bike, Blood Codes, upgrades, and allies
Code Vein II, the sequel to Bandai Namco’s 2019 anime Soulslike, is here. It’s generally easier than other games in the genre, but bosses can still be challenging, and the game adds a new open world to explore. In the opening hours you’ll obtain a bike/motorcycle that speeds up travel, can ram enemies for small damage, and serves as a getaway to recoup when low on healing.
If a story boss is overwhelming, the open-world design lets you explore other areas and return later; character level-ups grant predetermined, across-the-board stat increases. Seek out Golden Blood Beads and Golden Nectar to improve potion effectiveness and carry capacity—these appear as blue dots on the map.
Uncover more of the world by destroying red-tree map jammers, which show up as pink circles on your map. Do side content to grow stronger and find new weapons, skills, and Blood Codes; completing each hero’s Timeline Decision side missions is required to see all three endings. Blood Codes act like classes: swap them often to gain EXP, and when maxed you can have Lavinia extract Boosters to further enhance builds.
Upgrade weapons, Bequeathed Forma, and Jails to increase damage—the max levels are +20 for weapons and Jails and +5 for Bequeathed Forma. Use Item Synthesis to craft ammo, food, and other helpful items, and watch your Ichor (magic points) for Weapon Formae; use your Jail attack to drain enemies and replenish Ichor.
