Colin Jost Tried Bobsledding — and Said He Thought He'd Die — Nbc

Colin Jost, who usually prefers the live thrills of hosting "Weekend Update," took up an invitation to try bobsledding. He had been working from Tahiti as a surfing correspondent until a coral reef-related injury sent him home, and the network sent him to Lake Placid rather than Milan Cortina.

Standing in tight bobsled gear and holding a helmet, he joked to host Mike Tirico that he was only "inching my way closer" to the Olympics. Jost rode with "a very gifted driver thankfully, Bryan Berghorn," and his reaction was vivid. "I was not prepared for the level of terror in this bobsled.

I swear to god, I thought I was going to die," he said, later adding that he thought his back would snap and his bones would "fly off my body" and be littered along the track. The run included a good deal of screaming and some cursing, and Jost called it "by far the scariest experience I've ever had in my life." He sounded relieved to be back on solid ground and suggested a career pivot to bobsledding was unlikely.
