Conte sent off after confronting fourth official as McTominay earns 2-2 draw at San Siro
Goal reports that a furious Antonio Conte screamed in the face of the fourth official after being sent off in Napoli's top-of-the-table Serie A clash with Inter at San Siro on Sunday.
Conte kicked a spare ball upfield in anger after seeing his side concede a late penalty and was shown a red card; club officials then intervened to usher him down the tunnel. The match finished 2-2, with Scott McTominay scoring both Napoli goals. Inter had taken an early lead through Federico Dimarco, McTominay equalised shortly before the half-hour mark, and a late Amir Rrahmani challenge on Henrikh Mkhitaryan led to a VAR review and a spot-kick which Hakan Calhanoglu converted. According to Sport Mediaset, Conte repeatedly screamed "shame on you all" as he left the touchline.
McTominay's brace took him to eight goals in 27 appearances across all competitions and four assists. Conte will now face a touchline ban, but the draw keeps Napoli in the title hunt; Inter remain top on 43 points, three clear of AC Milan and four ahead of Napoli. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wrote: “Wonderful match! Fabulous Napoli. With the 9 players who have been absent for much of the season, what would Napoli have achieved by now?” McTominay and Napoli return to action on Wednesday at home to Parma, then host Sassuolo on January 17, before travelling to Copenhagen in the Champions League.
