Corsair changes Vengeance DDR5 packaging to deter scams — Pcgamer

"As DRAM prices continue to rise, protecting product authenticity has become increasingly important." Corsair has swapped the Vengeance DDR5 packaging for a see-through plastic clamshell so buyers can inspect the modules more easily. The new clamshell lets you see the RAM as you pick it up, replacing the previous packaging that only had a small window on the back.

The memory sits snugly in place, making verification possible even from a distance. Because the plastic shell includes a seal, it is harder to open and tamper with without leaving signs of interference. Even if a scammer could imitate a stick of Vengeance memory, replacing components without detection would be difficult.

Older packaging relied mainly on a sticker at the top holding the box edge down; that offers some deterrent, but is easier to defeat than the new shell. Corsair will also reintroduce a security label for box-packaged memory.
