Costes to open L’Aventure boutique hotel on Avenue Victor Hugo
Thierry Costes, chief executive of the Beaumarly Group, is set to unveil L’Aventure, a boutique hotel above an existing restaurant and nightclub on the Avenue Victor Hugo in Paris.
Housed in a Haussmannian building dating to 1870, the group bought the property during the pandemic for an undisclosed sum and spent about 25 million euros converting five upper floors into a five-star hotel. L’Aventure has 15 rooms, most with views of the Arc de Triomphe, two private salons, interiors by Vincent Darré and a selection of works from the Costes family’s private collection; nightly rates range from 500 to 5,000 euros.
The project builds on four decades of the Costes family’s hospitality and nightlife businesses. “Costes is an institution, a reference,” said Vincent Grégoire of NellyRodi, and Thierry Costes described the new hotel as hyper-curated and clublike: it is not bookable on major online platforms, has a 24-hour butler and, he said, the nightclub often turns away about 300 people a night.
L’Aventure opens this week, and Thierry Costes said he hopes to expand the concept in Europe and, possibly, New York, though those plans remain aspirational. The building’s purchase price was not disclosed, and the hotel’s access policy emphasizes existing connections to the Costes community. (This interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.)
