Craig Mazin to Adapt Baldur's Gate at HBO
Collider reported that Craig Mazin is developing a Baldur's Gate series at HBO and is attached to create, write, executive produce and showrun the project. Baldur's Gate 3 has been a pop culture juggernaut since launching in 2023, pulling in more than 15 million players and quickly earning a reputation as one of the greatest RPGs.
Set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, the game is known for its morally messy choices, deeply written characters, sharp humor, and player-driven outcomes. Mazin said he put nearly 1,000 hours into the world of Baldur's Gate 3, called it a dream to continue the story Larian and Wizards of the Coast created, and described himself as a devoted fan of D&D.
Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O'Connor, and Hasbro Entertainment's Gabriel Marano will executive produce alongside Mazin, and the series will expand beyond the original Baldur's Gate games.
