Pcgamer reports that Luke Ross, creator of the R.E.A.L. VR mod for Cyberpunk 2077, has accused CD Projekt of "iron-clad corpo logic" after the studio issued a DMCA demanding the mod's removal.

Ross wrote on his Patreon that two recent posts disappeared about a week ago and that he could not comment while there was an ongoing legal exchange. He said CD Projekt stretches the concept of "derivative work," arguing it is unreasonable to treat a system that visualizes "40+ games in fully immersive 3D VR" as built using the studio's intellectual property, and added that the studio gives "absolutely zero f***s" about players enjoying the game in VR. A redditor, MotherFunker1734, also commented that paid mods are not allowed under the company's rules.

Ross acknowledged he was "bitter" about the takedown, saying the studio only reacted after someone reported the mod was not free. He also announced that R.E.A.L. VR now supports Baldur's Gate 3, and said there was an ongoing legal exchange at the time of his post.
