Critics name eight art and entertainment highlights to watch in 2026
New York Times critics have highlighted eight arts and entertainment events to watch in 2026, from a major Marcel Duchamp retrospective at MoMA to Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey and the return of Lisa Kudrow in a new season of The Comeback. Holland Cotter notes that MoMA will fill its sixth floor in April with a Duchamp retrospective; the New Museum is set to reopen this spring after a two-year closure for construction of a new wing; and the 2026 Whitney Biennial is organized by Marcela Guerrero and Drew Sawyer, who worked under heavy pressure this past year.
On screen, James Poniewozik writes that Nolan’s The Odyssey is based on a text more than 2,000 years old, was shot with IMAX film cameras and features Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Matt Damon. Joshua Barone reports that The Comeback returns in March with Lisa Kudrow reprising Valerie Cherish, though he had not yet seen the new (and evidently final) season.
Mike Hale says Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale star in The Bride!, which was delayed into this year; David E.
