David Hayer to return as Solid Snake voice actor in Rainbow Six Siege
Solid Snake is joining Rainbow Six Siege as a permanent Operator and David Hayter is reprising the role. Ubisoft revealed the Metal Gear Solid-themed update during its Rainbow Six Invitational event. The update, Season One: Operation Silent Hunt, begins Year 11 on March 3 and kicks off four seasons of content.
The shooter will receive major balancing updates, anti-cheat improvements, a new mode and themed skins as part of the first season. Hayter originally voiced Snake in 1998's Metal Gear Solid and continued through 2010's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Kiefer Sutherland took over the role in 2014 and 2015, and Hayter has only returned sporadically since — voicing characters in Super Bomberman R, having some old lines reused in Super Smash Bros.
Ultimate and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and re-recording a few lines for the latter. For Rainbow Six Siege he will perform entirely new voice cues. The update adds a Metal Gear Solid-themed 4v4 Infiltration mode in which Snake and Zero lead teams to recover stolen data.
