Dawson's Creek cast reacts to James Van Der Beek's death at 48
Members of the Dawson’s Creek cast have responded after James Van Der Beek died at 48 following a years-long battle with colorectal cancer. Van Der Beek played Dawson Leery for all six seasons of the WB drama from 1998 to 2003; Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams were among his regular co-stars, and Busy Philipps joined the series in Season 5 as Audrey Liddell.
Busy Philipps wrote that her “heart is deeply hurting” and called Van Der Beek “one in a billion,” saying she was “profoundly heartbroken for his incredible wife Kimberly and their six magical children.” Chad Michael Murray commented beneath a family post, “Sending love and light to your beautiful family.
James was a giant,” and added that Van Der Beek’s work and humanity inspired others.
