Deadpool brings fourth-wall gags and pop-culture lines to Marvel Rivals season six
Kotaku reports Deadpool launches today in Marvel Rivals as part of the shooter’s sixth season, with NetEase integrating his fourth-wall-breaking humour so it complements other heroes rather than hijacking the game.
The character’s in-game presentation includes comic-book-style panels and pop-ups, in-character ability descriptions that can be swapped to NetEase’s more “emotionless” descriptions for clarity, and even the option for Deadpool to converse with announcer Galacta. His banter nods to Marvel multimedia and community leakers and memes, makes a line referencing Morbius, and borrows jokes from Pokémon, Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario and Spongebob.
Voice actor Alejandro Saab appears to have ad-libbed several lines and posted, "I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY KEPT ALL OF THIS! HAHAHAHAHA I love my job 🤣" The game also includes memes such as "67" and "Hawk Tuah," and the "67" line is noted as not being spammable like a similar one in another hero shooter.
