According to Goal, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has been banned from driving for six months and fined after being caught speeding twice on the same road in the space of a week; he did not appear at Crawley Magistrates Court. The incidents were reported to have occurred near his reported 3£3 million mansion in Surrey in 2024 while he was driving a A340,000 Jaguar Land Rover.

The report says Rice was clocked doing 37mph in a 30mph zone on the A217 on January 3, 2024, and then 49mph in a 40mph zone on the same road on January 8, 2024. A totting-up process followed because he already had six points on his licence, bringing the total to 15 points; he has also been ordered to pay a total of A32,185, comprising a A31,500 penalty, a A3600 surcharge and A385 in court costs.

Rice, 26, will be hoping the off-field matter does not distract him as he continues his season with Arsenal. The source notes he missed the club's 4-1 win over Aston Villa with a knee complaint but scored a brace in a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth, and he said in the build-up to a 0-0 draw with Liverpool that he was "loving" his football at the moment. Arsenal open their FA Cup campaign with a trip to Portsmouth on Sunday.
