According to Independent.co, Nick Reiner’s lawyer Alan Jackson has withdrawn from the upcoming trial over the murder of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. Judge Theresa McGonigle agreed to Jackson’s request during a hearing on Wednesday, when Nick Reiner had been due to be arraigned and enter a plea; the arraignment has been delayed until February 23.

As Variety reports, deputy public defender Kimberly Greene will take over the defence. Jackson asked to be replaced by a public defender and did not say why he had chosen to step away from the case.

Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles, home on December 14. Their son Nick, 32, was subsequently arrested and charged with the double murder; he was pictured in September 2025. Arraignment is now set for February 23 and further developments are awaited.
