Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle to become first anime on ScreenX and get 4DX runs
Starting Feb. 20, select Japanese theaters will screen Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle in ScreenX and 4DX formats, marking the film’s first run in those formats.
ScreenX presents films across a panoramic, three-screen setup that expands the image beyond the main screen to heighten immersion during select sequences. Infinity Castle will make history as the first anime to use the ScreenX format, and the release represents the franchise’s first screenings in immersive 4DX.
While ScreenX and 4DX screenings are currently limited to Japan and the Philippines, audiences in Japan have already had an IMAX presentation of the film.
Infinity Castle debuted in Japan on July 18, 2025, and pulled in more than 25 billion yen (about $174 million) in its first 31 days. The film rolled out internationally on Aug. 14, arrived in North American theaters on Sept. 12, and ultimately grossed over $600 million worldwide. It is the first movie in a trilogy that will conclude the adaptation of Koyoharu Gotoge’s Demon Slayer manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump.
There is speculation that theaters worldwide equipped with ScreenX or 4DX could eventually host limited runs of Infinity Castle, and rumors suggest regions without those formats may see a traditional IMAX re-release instead.
