The solo developer of Zera: Myths Awaken says they woke up to find a very similar game being sold on the Nintendo Switch eShop for $15 under a different developer and publisher. Zera began as an unofficial fan-made sequel to Spyro the Dragon and later evolved into its own project, with a demo on Itch.io that has many positive reviews.

The solo creator, Cyreides, went on an indefinite hiatus in 2022 citing mental health. Cyreides alleges the other release, Lotzo and the Ray of Light from Spacefarer Games, copied the story, character designs, names of everyone but Zera, level models and textures, animations, music, gameplay/code and more.

Commenters noted the eShop version looks like the Zera demo with recolored assets and an AI-generated cover, and some called the listing theft.
