The Devil Wears Prada 2 trailer: Miranda Priestly faces friction from a former assistant
A new full trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has arrived, showing Miranda Priestly's return and rising tension with a former assistant as the sequel prepares for release on May 1, 2026.
The preview reunites Meryl Streep as Miranda and Anne Hathaway as Andrea "Andy" Sachs, with Emily Blunt back as Emily Charlton — 20 years after the original film’s premiere.
The trailer suggests Miranda must manage newfound friction with Emily, who has risen through the fashion magazine ranks to become a rival executive amid the continuing decline of print media. Stanley Tucci also returns as Nigel, with Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman among other familiar faces.
New additions to the cast include Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Lady Gaga, B.J. Novak, Rachel Bloom, Pauline Chalamet and Simone Ashley. Patrick Brammel joins as Andy’s new love interest; Adrian Grenier is not returning as Nate.
MovieWeb notes the 2006 original made $326 million at the box office, and a November 2025 teaser already had fans saying they were "checking their wardrobe" — the full trailer has further raised anticipation.
The sequel opens May 1, 2026, two weeks before another Anne Hathaway film, Verity, and will enter an early summer slate that includes Animal Farm, Mortal Kombat II and The Mandalorian & Grogu — whether the sequel can match the original’s success remains to be seen.
