Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred introduces the Warlock
A demon-summoning Warlock is joining Diablo 4 with the Lord of Hatred expansion in April, and players can try a version of the class in Diablo 2: Resurrected today. Unlike the Necromancer or Witch Doctor, Warlocks call forth demons from Hell to fight up close, sometimes even fusing them into a wall of flesh that serves as a living shield.
In Diablo 2: Resurrected the Warlock skews toward a more restrained presentation: he commands weapons telekinetically, carries a tome or shield in his off hand, and uses spells and sigils while summoning three demon types — the Goatman, the Tainted, and the Defiler.
He can bind a demon to gain its abilities and later devour it to absorb lifeforce and temporary traits, a mechanic developers compared to a light, Pokémon-like system. Players unlock the Warlock through the Diablo 2: Resurrected – Reign of the Warlock add-on, a paid expansion arriving Feb.
