Diablo 4 adds warlocks, a dark summoner class, in Lord of Hatred — Pcgamer

The return of paladins to Diablo 4 grabbed attention, but a Diablo Spotlight video also confirmed a second new class coming with the Lord of Hatred expansion: a dark, brooding summoner called the warlock. Warlocks are new to the series, though a surprise expansion for Diablo 2 introduces an earlier form of the class.

Diablo 2's warlocks reflect the earliest stages of their demonology, while Diablo 4's warlocks are presented at their prime. Class skill trees have been reshaped so every skill now has upgrades that change how they work or which element they use. For example, a sorcerer can turn a fire hydra summon into a frost hydra.

That should let players invest in particular skills as they level, rather than relying solely on unique gear to define builds. The update looks aimed at encouraging experimentation instead of chasing whatever build is strongest each season.
