Movieweb reports Disney is moving forward with a live-action Tangled and has cast Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim as Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Michael Gracey is set to direct from a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, and the studio reportedly conducted screen tests in December before the holidays. The original 2010 Tangled starred Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi and grossed $592.5 million worldwide; Croft is best known for playing Raven on Titans and Manheim for his role as Zed in the Disney Channel Zombies franchise. Croft reportedly beat out Sarah Catherine Hook, Freya Skye and Olivia-Mai Barrett for the role.

Despite reports that the remake was put on hold following Snow White's box office performance, the success of Lilo & Stitch has seemingly given Disney renewed confidence. The next role to cast is Mother Gothel, with Scarlett Johansson reportedly eyed before she passed on the project, and no release date has been set though Disney might aim for holiday 2027 or spring 2028; the piece said the film could be a star-making project.
