Disney Lorcana lays out 2026 roadmap starting with Winterspell
Polygon reports that Disney Lorcana begins 2026 with a fraught storyline in the Winterspell set, revealed by the Lorcana team during a preview press conference earlier this month. Winterspell enters prerelease on Feb. 13 with a full release on Feb. 20; International Product Manager Naomi Kim said the set continues a storyline first teased in Whispers in the Well and centers on a mysterious vine draining magic while an 'eternal winter' spreads.
Elsa plays a pivotal role, with cards such as Elsa, Concerned Sister and Freeze the Vine and a location called The Frozen Vine, and other reveals include Elsa, Ice Artisan, the song action The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway, and new characters from Moana, Pocahontas, Lilo & Stitch, Beauty and the Beast, and Gargoyles.
The set also debuts a wording change via Moana, Curious Explorer that standardizes 'inking' language starting in set 11; Lukas Litzsinger explained 'inking is the new term for the turn action of taking an inkable card, usually from your hand' and that Moana's ability allows taking it from the discard instead.
