AdHoc Studios, developer of the superhero workplace dramedy Dispatch, has responded after criticism that the Switch and Switch 2 versions launched with mandatory censorship not present on other platforms, saying the team is "working with Nintendo on a path forward."

In a message on its Discord, AdHoc said it's been quiet since launch "because we've been trying to make sure we're being good partners with Nintendo," and noted that some early buyers have been getting refunds on the port.

The studio reiterated that Nintendo has content guidelines and that Dispatch "didn't meet those guidelines," so the team "made changes to the game to ensure it could launch on the handheld consoles." AdHoc added it had assumed it "would've been able to get away with what CD Projekt Red has" after Cyberpunk 2077 appeared uncensored on Switch 2.

Dispatch is from former Telltale developers at AdHoc Studios and is styled like "a premium animated television show," according to the studio. The Switch ports' alterations prompted the public pushback and the separate Nintendo statement that told people not to point the finger at the platform holder.

AdHoc says it is looking to address some of the censored content with Nintendo's help and that it is "working with Nintendo on a path forward," but the studio has not detailed which changes will be made or when players can expect any updates.
